Terms of Service
Last updated October 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Caleb Gregg, doing business as Basset Systems ("Basset Systems," "we," "us," or "our"). They apply to your use of our website at bassetsystems.com, our client portal, and the writing services we provide (together, the "Services"). By paying for, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Services for a rescue or organization, you confirm that you are allowed to agree to these Terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. What we provide
Basset Systems is a writing service for animal rescues. Through our client portal, you enter details about an animal or a rescue event and receive AI-written drafts, such as a Facebook post, an Instagram caption, listing or event description text, and a list of details to confirm before posting. We may add or change features over time. If you choose a reminder date on an event form, we will email the reminder post to the address you give us on or about that date. We do not guarantee the exact time or delivery of any email, so please check your spam folder and keep your own record of important dates. Features described as "coming next" or "planned" are not part of the Services until we make them available.
2. We are not a rescue
Basset Systems is a writing service. We are not an animal rescue or shelter, and we do not adopt out, house, transport, or care for animals. We are not responsible for adoption decisions, the health or behavior of any animal, or the actions of any rescue or adopter.
3. AI-written drafts: your responsibility
The Services use artificial intelligence to write drafts. AI can make mistakes, misread what you entered, or leave out important details. You are responsible for reading every draft and confirming that all facts are accurate before you post anything. This includes health, vaccination, spay/neuter, and microchip status, behavior, and how an animal gets along with children, dogs, and cats, as well as event dates, times, locations, costs, and other logistics. You decide what to publish, and you are solely responsible for anything you post. Drafts are not veterinary, legal, or professional advice.
4. Our review
We aim to review a copy of each set of drafts within one business day after it is created. If we notice a mistake, we will email you a correction. We do not guarantee that we will notice every error, and our review does not replace your own review before posting.
5. Pilot, subscription, and payment
The Founding Partner pilot is $25 per month with no setup fee, and is available to a limited number of rescues. The subscription is billed monthly through Stripe and renews automatically until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method each month. We do not see or store your full card details. We may change our prices for future billing periods, and we will email you at least 30 days before any change takes effect. If you do not agree to a change, you can cancel before it starts.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time using the billing link in the client portal, or by emailing us. After you cancel, your access continues through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. Payments are non-refundable, including for partial months, except where required by law or where we choose to offer a refund. There are no contracts, cancellation fees, or minimum terms.
7. Your client code
When you subscribe, we give you a client code. It is for use by your rescue only. Keep it private and do not share it with anyone outside your rescue. We may disable a code that is shared, abused, or used in a way that violates these Terms, and we will disable it when your subscription ends. You are responsible for activity that happens using your code.
8. What you may submit
You may use the Services only to submit information about animals and rescue events. Please do not enter personal information about people, such as adopters' names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, or health details. You confirm that you have the right to submit what you enter, and that you will not use the Services to create content that is false, misleading, unlawful, or harmful. You may not try to break, overload, or get around the limits or security of the Services.
9. Ownership and use of content
You keep ownership of the details you submit and may use the drafts we provide however you like, including posting them under your rescue's name. You give us permission to process what you submit in order to provide the Services, as described in our Privacy Policy. Our website, branding, and software remain ours, and these Terms do not give you any right to them other than to use the Services.
10. Third-party services
The Services depend on third-party providers, including Stripe for payments, Google for email and AI, and Netlify for hosting. These providers have their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for their services or any interruptions they cause.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Services available, but we do not promise that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause, or end any part of the Services, including the pilot. If we end the Services entirely, we will not charge you for any period after that point.
12. Ending your access
You may stop using the Services at any time by canceling. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Services, or do not pay. If we end your access for a reason other than your violation of these Terms, we will refund the unused part of your current billing period.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Services and all drafts are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes any warranty that drafts will be accurate, complete, suitable for a particular purpose, or result in any adoption.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Basset Systems will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost adoptions, donations, or reputation, arising from your use of the Services or any draft. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Contact us first
If you have a problem with the Services, please email bassetsystems@gmail.com first so we can try to resolve it informally.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Either of us may also bring an eligible claim in small claims court.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date at the top. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the client portal. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
